Description

On this 3.5 hour sea glass setting workshop at our teaching studio in Great Linford, you will learn how to encase sea glass into fine silver frames to create beautiful pendants or earrings. Choose from pieces we cave collected from Charlouth, Scotland and Cornwall or bring your own. Experienced tutor Beccy will gently guide you through a wealth of techniques to enable you to make your very own pieces of jewellery from these lovely treasures of the sea. You will learn how to: * Select the perfect piece of sea glass * Measure your glass * Select and form the appropriate fine silver strip size for the glass * Solder setting and jump rings * Make fittings using pliers and silver wires for your pendant or earrings * Solder all components together * Use acrylic and metal stone setting tools to secure your glass * Sand and polish your piece Good hand dexterity and eyesight essential. The setting is hard on your hands and requires quite a bit of force from the wrist and arm. Some experience of soldering and stone setting is beneficial but not essential. If you wear reading glasses please bring them with you. Please wear closed toe shoes and avoid wearing floaty scarves or skirts. If you would like to bring your own sea glass we can definitely look through your pieces to find any suitable ones.
