Description
Our summer pottery courses run from the end of July to mid August. (We also run specific sculpture short courses and workshops). - Suitable for beginners to experienced potters, we have a course to suit everyone - Children over 10 and teenagers welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian. These short courses introduce hand-building and throwing on the potter's wheel, decoration and glazing. Beginners are guided step-by-step through different projects. We show you how to make using specific construction techniques, and you choose what it is you are making (like a mug, pot, vase, etc). We will show you how to decorate it and make it unique. FAQs
We will show you a technique, like pinch pots.
We will show you and talk through how to construct using this technique.
You get to choose what you make, like a mug, or jug, or something decorative / ornamental like an owl. You get creative freedom within certain parameters (like size for instance).
We will give you instructions, and then let you get on with making.
We wont stand over you watching everything you do - we think the best way to learn is through doing, through trial and error, and getting an understanding of how the clay behaves.
We will help you make informed decisions, but we will let you get on with your making when you are doing it right, and we will tell you if there is a better way / correct way to do something.
If you don't understand something, or if something doesn't work for you, please tell us so that we can adjust our teaching to help you.
