Day 1 of the 'weekend of wool' course near Hebden Bridge. Plant dyes and wet felted pots. Attend the full weekend course or just one day - see my other listings. Wool crafts and plant dyes. Explore and learn about British wool fibres, yarn, wet felting, and natural dyeing techniques, through hands on crafting, talks and demonstrations. On day one you’ll be working with two local crafts people, Melanie and Linda, sharing the joys of wool and nature. Each day there will be an optional visit to the Fifty Shades of Yellow Dyers Garden at Red Acre Allotments. - Saturday 12th 10am – 4pm: Wet Felted Pots, Exploring Wool and Plant Fibres, Mordants and Modifiers, Dyeing Pots and Yarn with Onions Skins and Food Waste, with Melanie and Linda. 4.30pm - 5pm: Dyers Garden Visit Full Weekend Course: Attend the whole weekend of just one day - see my other listings. These workshops are designed for art and craft lovers, beginners or experienced crafters, and for those who simply want to enjoy a creative day out. The workshops have proved popular with mothers and daughters, couples, families and friends who wish to spend some quality creative time together. Lots of participants come on their own and enjoy socialising with new people. The workshops are run from the light and airy Crafts in the Valley Studio in Cragg Vale, a short drive from Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley. The Calder Valley is a great place to visit or make a weekend of it if you are travelling far. Hebden Bridge is a quirky town filled with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It is well known for its exciting art, craft and alternative music scene. It is also a great place if you enjoy nature, walking and exploring the countryside.

I’m Melanie, I deliver a range of creative art and craft workshops from my studio in Cragg Vale, near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. As an artist and craftsperson, I enjoy playing with fused glass and textiles. I’m inspired by the array of colour and texture found in nature. I’m a fully qualified secondary school Art and Design teacher with a BA Hons Degree in Fashion and Textiles. A workshop with Crafts in the Valley is a special day out, learn creative skills and de-stressing! We refer to it as Creative Escapism.
