Sunday July 6th 2025: Bead and grain setting. Please note: you must book for each day. The price listed is per day. Friday is a fabrication day - you will be making mounts not setting. Saturday a setting course - you will setting stones and not be fabricating mounts. Sunday is a setting course - you will learn how to bead and grain set. Setting is one of the fundamental setting skills that takes time and good training to get right. Peter has many years experience training apprentices and jewellers in Australia and is visiting the UK to share his extensive expertise. If you have had issues with getting claws really tight and well-cut, or suffer from loose settings, this is a brilliant course for you. During the course you will be introduced to all the unpinning principals and pitfalls you may encounter in design. This includes best practices in metal thickness ratios, getting the geometry right, what tools are needed and how to clean up effectively after setting.
