Modern Kintsugi Experience: Prosecco Special

X

Description

Discover the beauty of Kintsugi in this engaging, hands-on workshop. Guided by Andri Maimaridou, a professional ceramics conservator who works with Kirsten Ramsay from The Repair Shop and is a Visiting Lecturer at West Dean College, you will learn to transform a pre-broken ceramic bowl into a one-of-a-kind piece with golden seams, using safe, modern materials that honour the spirit of the tradition. Along the way, you’ll hear about the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates imperfection and transformation. By the end, you’ll leave with your own completed Kintsugi piece to treasure — a symbol of resilience and creativity. To make the experience even more special, each participant will enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco as part of the session.

Sussex Kintsugi offers mindful, creative workshops inspired by the Japanese art of golden repair. Founded by ceramics conservator Andriani Maimaridou, the sessions invite participants to transform broken pottery into unique “soul bowls” using modern, safe materials. Based in Sussex, we run welcoming classes in Brighton, suitable for beginners, groups, or special celebrations. FAQs

- By Train: The nearest station is Preston Park (around a 30-minute walk).
- By Bus: From Harrington Road stop (if arriving at Preston Park), take buses 5A, 5, 17, or 272 to The Deneway East, then walk 8 minutes to The Barn.

There’s no dedicated parking at the venue, but free on-street parking is available around the Green. It’s usually fine, though I recommend allowing a bit of extra time to find a spot.
