Picassiette Mosaics on Slate – Thistle or Flower
Description
In this half-day workshop, you’ll create a picassiette mosaic thistle or flower for your home or garden. “Picassiette” or “pique assiette” (a French term meaning “stolen from plate”) incorporates pieces of broken pottery, bone china, plates, cups, bowls, tiles, shells, glass, and other discarded items in your work. We encourage you to bring along any bone china that you’d like to incorporate into your design – Rhona will be able to advise you about its suitability for outdoors. In this class, you can create one mosaic on slate - a thistle or simple flower like a sunflower, daisy, gerbera, poppy, daffodil or similar, like the ones shown in the images. (If you'd prefer to make a different design to a thistle or flower, Rhona also holds one-day workshops where she'll help you create your own design, and you can sometimes even make two mosaics in one day at these workshops, depending on the complexity of your design). This workshop is suitable for both beginners and intermediate levels. So whether you’re brand new to mosaics, or if you’ve been to a previous workshop and would like to further develop your skills, you’re very welcome! As it's close to Christmas, you could create a special gift for a loved one in your life! You’ll learn about the materials suitable for exterior mosaics plus how to use tools to cut mosaics and glass, and put all your learnings into action. It’s a relaxed atmosphere where, not only will you develop or hone your mosaic skills, but you’ll also have an enjoyable day out! This is also a great workshop for team building and private parties - if you'd like to book for a private event, contact Rhona via the 'message the tutor' button below. Important notes: - This workshop is suitable for over age 16s. - If the workshop you were looking at is fully booked, please do get in touch. We will add extra dates to our most popular workshops. - In case of insufficient registrations, the workshop will be cancelled and you’ll get a refund of your workshop fee. - If you wish to cancel your place, a refund will only be possible if someone else takes your place.
