Make a ceramic tortoise - Fun for the whole family!
Description
Make a ceramic tortoise (2 hours) using handbuilding techniques. Ideal project for a taster of clay work, suitable for all ages from five up. You'll use underglazes to add some colour to your creation, and I'll put a coat of clear glaze if required (please not there is an extra fee for this). Each child under nine will need to be accompanied by an adult who can help them (places for adults attending with a child under nine are free). Children over nine will also need to be accompanied by an adult who can help, however adults attending with children nine and up will need to pay for a separate place. Up to four makers and two helpers per session. Please let me know the age of the child you're booking for and if any helper is coming. Thank you.
What's included in the price?
All tools and materials for making, painting with underglazes and the first firing. Aprons available to borrow. Extra fee for glazing and second firing. You'll need to collect your work after the second firing, around three weeks after the making session.

Depending on the workshop, underglaze painting might be included. And I can add some clear glaze for you on request (at a cost).
If not you might want to come back to glaze your item or I can glaze it for you after bisque firing (first firing). We'll arrange this when you come for your making session.
Functional items like mugs or vases need glazing and a second firing afterwards. If you make something purely decorative for indoors, you can paint it at home with acrylic paints or come back for glazing.
I'm sorry, but no. This is clay that needs firing. It'll be fired about 2 weeks after making and you'll need to collect your work, I'll let you know when ready.
Yes, it might be possible depending on my availability, please contact me with the dates you have in mind and the number of attendees. If there are less than 3 people, the class will have to be at least 3 weeks from your message to allow me time to advertise. When we've agreed on a date I will create a listing for you to buy the tickets.
