Leatherwork: make a belt pouch. Create your own unique handy belt pouch using various skills. You will learn many of the basic skills employed in handcrafted leatherwork including how to use leatherworker's tools, create & work with a pattern, accurately cut and prepare leather, then spend an afternoon creating the project of your choice. Each student will also learn the skill of traditional saddle stitching so that they may continue to practice at home. - Learn how to plan & create a card template or pattern - Select the correct leather for the project - Become competent at using the various leatherworker's knives for both straight and curved cuts - Learn how to prepare the leather for hand stitching including skiving, stitch marking & preparing the thread. - Become confident whilst using a harness awl. - Learn how to saddle stitch with a saddler’s clam. - Learn how to finish the edge. - Set rivets by hand & with a press. This LEATHERWORK - BELT POUCH WORKSHOP will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. Numbers are limited to ensure you get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition. This leatherwork experience is suitable for 16+. About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day and also a lovely lunch - tailored to meet all dietary requirements. All students will be provided with a certificate of completion. What's included in the price?

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day and a light, rustic farmhouse-style lunch is also included; tailored to meet all dietary requirements. Depending on the weather/time of year, lunch can be taken either out in the cottage garden, or in our country kitchen which has a view over the garden. Blended Monkey is a husband and wife team. Our studios are based in a small village on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border. Our setting provides ample inspiration for our work, and is perfect for our woodturning & pottery courses. Louise (ceramicist) - I studied at the Falmouth School of Art & Design and I am interested in various art forms, design and applied arts. Simon (woodturner) - I love working with wood & exploring its versatility. I'm a member of the AWGB and APTGW.
