This is a two day Introduction to Woodland Management course set within our own 120 acre semi-ancient natural woodland. This course is designed for small woodland owners and those interested in buying or working in woodlands. It will cover a range of subjects including understanding your woodland, the benefits of managing it, in particular ancient woodland, and how to understand the economics of a woodland.
What's included in the price?
Day 1: Woodland structure and biodiversity. 09.30am - 1:00pm: Introduction to woodland structure and a guided walk through the woodland to identify and discuss different elements. 2:00pm - 5:30pm: Biodiversity monitoring walk, identifying different species and discussing their roles in the ecosystem. Day 2: Countryside Stewardship and Tree Assessment. 09:30am - 12:00pm: Introduction to Countryside Stewardship, including veteran tree surveys and how to apply. 1:00pm - 2:30pm: Practical session on tree assessment and ride management for biodiversity. 3:00pm - 4:00pm: Overview of the costs and potential revenue streams associated with woodland management. You are welcome to come and camp on site. Alternatively, local B&B accommodation is available. This course offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, providing a comprehensive introduction to the art of woodland management.
