Description
Indian block printing is a beautiful technique using traditional hand-carved wooden blocks to print gorgeous patterns. In this class you'll choose from our selection of blocks to print onto both paper and fabric, making a few paper items (maybe greetings cards and gift tags) and also a larger fabric piece such as a shopping bag, tea towel or a scarf. Unleash your creativity and discover the joy of this age-old craft, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, complete with a cup of tea (or coffee, of course!). Suitable for complete beginners, you will be guided through every step by Wendy, owner of The Little Craftery, and life-long crafter. Over-16s only, unless previously agreed by The Little Craftery (please contact us via the 'message the tutor' button to discuss). What's included in the price?
The price includes everything you need: all materials (there is a small extra charge for a scarf), use of any necessary tools, full instruction from Wendy, and tea and coffee. You can choose from our range of wooden blocks and choose from a wide range of colours to print with. You'll start by practicing on paper and fabric before moving on to creating your finished pieces, which might include greetings cards, gift tags, wrapping paper, and one larger fabric piece such as a cotton shopping bag, a tea towel, a scarf (additional charge payable on the day), or maybe just a piece of fabric that can be used to make a lampshade in one of our fabulous lampshade making classes. Fabric items are subject to availability, we may not always have the blanks in stock (if you have a specific request, please let us know with enough notice for us to order it in). You will get to take home all of the pieces you make, including your finished items and practice pieces (even your practice pieces can be useful, Wendy will show you what you can do with them!).
