FAQs

One of the great things about hand-building as opposed to wheel-thrown pottery, is that your hands get far less wet. Many people find the clay can be drying though, due to the kaolin content (the same stuff that's in clay facepacks). If you think this will irritate your skin, you will need to bring some snug-fitting nitrile gloves with you, which will provide a sufficient barrier against any wet clay. Make sure to be diligent about using any creams and medications afterwards.

Not at all! Almost everyone has had experience of drinking from a mug at some point in their lives! We have all used small dishes and pots. If you can think of a colour, and a mug you've used before, you are halfway there already! Our tutors can help with everything else.

You don't need to bring any supplies, we have everything here.
Avoid wearing jewellery, especially rings.
Long nails and pottery don't always work well together. Some people manage to create pots with longer nails, but I keep mine short. It's up to you, but should be borne in mind.

If you have long hair, you should wear it up and away from your face.
You might want to bring an apron, or 'messy' clothes.
You may want to bring in a drink with you - we also have a kitchenette to make a coffee or tea, and we have a fridge if you have anything that needs to be refrigerated.
