Description
Step into the enchanting world of fused glass—like Alice through the looking glass! Glass fusing, an art form dating back over 4,000 years and predating glassblowing, was once used to create jewellery and small decorative items. Today, we bring this ancient craft to life with modern techniques, preserving its timeless charm while expanding its creative possibilities. Glass fusing is a captivating process where you arrange colourful glass pieces into a design and heat them in a kiln, fusing them into a single, smooth artwork. This technique allows for endless creativity—design vibrant coasters, unique plates, eye-catching art pieces, or jewellery, all with brilliant colours and texture. Easy for beginners and rewarding for experienced creatives, glass fusing is a fun and engaging way to craft something truly individual. Most full-day courses offer the chance to experiment with both full fuse and tack fusing techniques, allowing you to explore a range of finishes and effects unless a particular focus has been set for the day—if so, this will be clearly stated in advance. Join us for a hands-on experience guided by expert instructors who will help you gain confidence in techniques like layering, firing, and shaping glass. You’ll also connect with a friendly, like-minded group of creatives, discovering new ideas and making something beautiful in the process. By the end of the day, you’ll take home two beautiful 10cm x 10cm glass creations, which can be used as coasters, nightlights, or decorative pictures. Nightlight fittings are not included but can be purchased online—there’s a wide variety to suit your style.
