Description

Spend a relaxed day learning the art of folk art painting. Steeped in tradition, this folk art session will introduce you to a number of the basic brush stokes used in traditional folk art around the world. This course is more in depth than the 'Introduction To Folk Art painting' workshop, in addition to the basic comma stroke, you will also learn a number of other painting techniques to use in your designs. After starting the day with a coffee and a short introduction, you will learn a number of basic brush strokes and painting techniques through demonstrations by the tutor, followed by practice time for each technique. You will then be guided through a pattern to produce your own hand painted notebook. If time allows, you will also be able to complete gift tags, or greetings card. This workshop is for beginners, so no previous knowledge of folk art painting is necessary. However, this workshop is considered the next step if you have already completed the 'introduction To Folk Art Painting' workshop. The workshop aims to provide a fun and relaxed way to learn the basic techniques of folk art painting.

Originally starting out on my creative journey making rustic style wirework jewellery, I further developed my art skills to include folk art painting, dot mandala work, block printing, and folk art style felt designs. I have taught adults for many years within the NHS and university settings, earning a post graduate teaching qualification for adults along the way. I now enjoy teaching in a more relaxed atmosphere specialising in courses and workshops for adults. I run my workshops in Cumnor, Oxfordshire. I am also the creator and organiser of Crafty Boaters Handmade Markets in Lechlade-on-Thames
