Embroidery - Encrusted Garden, Ilkley

Description

In this full day workshop, embroidery tutor Stephanie Palmer will inspire you with her Encrusted Garden Design. She will use her design to teach you a range of different surface embroidery stitches. These might include stem stitch, split stitch, fly stitch, French knots, bullion knots lazy daisy stitch, delicate beads and is finished with a flower and/or insect motif. If a student has already mastered these, Stephanie will introduce you to additional stitches to extend your repertoire. You will be given designs of foliage and flowers for you to transfer onto your fabric, creating your own embroidery piece if you prefer. There will also be a few pieces of fabric in each kit, so you have a choice. Any fabrics and threads that are not used on the day may be taken home so you can make an additional design if you wish. Additional, beads, threads and motifs than already provided in your kit will also be available for you to choose from. No previous experience is required but those who have embroidery experience will be able to extend their repertoire with a range of unusual and interesting stitches.

What's included in the price?

All materials for this workshop are included. Light refreshments are available throughout the day and during the lunch break, Ilkley has a number of delicious cafés and sandwich bars. Each participant also receives a 10% after class discount voucher to put towards their next workshop.

Founded in 1906, we are a family firm with shops in York and Harrogate. We specialise in haberdashery and needlecrafting materials and workshops, with an international reputation for stocking over 10,000+ different button designs. Our classes are held in a beautiful beamed room at the top of our medieval building in York and in the Yorkshire town of Ilkley in a converted Victorian double-fronted shop. They are taught by practicing designers and makers with considerable expertise in (and passion for) their respective crafts, and considerable teaching experience.
