Digital mark making for textiles and stitch from photos
Description
A new E-course for digital mark making on your computer. This course is for stitch and textile artists or indeed artists of any kind. If you think you cannot draw, get ready to find the perfect solution. Digital mark making from photos involves using image editing software to transform photographs into expressive, textures and patterns that can be used in art or printed and used in quilting, textiles or stitch. This is a simple technique to produce unique and effective work using your own photos. All you need is software that enables you to edit and layer your own photos, I recommend Photoshop, but you can look at alternatives and decide if they would work for you, such as Clip Studio Paint and Procreate. Please note that all the demonstrations and techniques in this course use Photoshop, as a professional I find it to be the best. You can use photos of existing textures, but my own work uses photos that you might not think of to create digital mark making. You take your own photos and transform them into a new image. It is a very satisfying way of creating work. You’ll discover ways of making art or textiles that are not available using traditional methods. You can develop your own personal style, just as you would with traditional mark making. Digitally it opens up many more possibilities, almost endless possibilities. It becomes far easier to work in a series. I am interested in marks being transformed into something I could not have thought of, or not have achieved in the traditional print making way. From the first marks we make as children, to looking at your photos as a resource for something other than what they represent, this is a fascinating technique for all artists, textile artists and more. It’s one of those fascinating areas of play. You can achieve illusions of depth and surface texture on a flat surface. You can print in different formats (I use an A3 printer), print your own booklets and so on. We welcome all skill levels to participate. If you can edit photos on the computer using software, this course is for you. Detailed instructions and exercises clearly make this E-course user-friendly. Follow the step-by-step photos with ease. Discover how to make marks exclusively using your own photos. In this unique E-course, you will find everything you need to know to make exciting marks for art, textiles and stitch. This E-course is delivered as a PDF booklet with clear instructions and unique photos. It is all my own work and not based on any other course.
