I’m an artist and printmaker from Greater Manchester, where I run creative workshops in arts, crafts, and traditional printmaking techniques. I began my printmaking journey in 2017, whilst working as a graphics and print designer in London. After more than two decades working in fast-paced creative agencies, I burned out. I found the pressure to create at speed on demand left little room for real creativity, and I found myself craving something slower, more tactile, and deeply human. Printmaking reignited my creative spark. I first immersed myself in screenprinting at Print Club London, where pulling ink through a screen by hand taught me to slow down and reconnect with the art of making. I loved it! I immersed myself in the process, now choosing to work long hours but doing something I truly enjoyed. In 2020, I returned to my hometown of Manchester and joined Hot Bed Press Printmakers in Salford, where I now have my own studio and teach cyanotype workshops, combining traditional techniques with natural dyes and tannins. Printmaking helped me reconnect with the creative freedom I’d felt as a child, and later enjoyed so much during Art Foundation and Art College. I founded Handmade Being as a space to share my knowledge and skills with anyone who has a desire to be more creative. My workshops focus on traditional techniques, often inspired by nature, they are designed to bring beauty into everyday spaces while encouraging people to slow down, work with their hands, and rediscover the satisfaction of making something one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, and real. Whether you’re returning to creativity or just starting out, I’d love to welcome you on one of my workshops.

FAQs
While it’s always lovely to use natural sunlight to develop cyanotype prints, we know the UK weather can be unpredictable. Adjust your exposure time depending on how sunny it is. On cloudy days leave your prints out for longer. This kit includes 2 test strips of the bag fabric that you can use to help you work out a good exposure time. Exposures can take from 3 to 30 minutes depending on the amount of light.
You can create beautiful prints all year round, whatever the weather, using an Ultra Violet lamp.
