Description

Take inspiration from a favourite landscape and learn the technique of ‘cracked earth’ felting - creating a piece of beautifully tactile artwork. During this 6 hour workshop, you’ll start by sketching out a design (don’t worry…this is just a guide for your felting!), before laying out wool fibres. You’ll learn how to cut a resist, specific to your design, before layering up more wool and applying any special fibres, such as curly locks or wool nepps for added texture. You’ll wet the fibres and then the felting begins! Once your picture is felted, you’ll cut away some of the felt to reveal the riven texture and the layers of colour. Once washed and partially dried, you’ll needle-felt the tree line to create scale and add a finishing touch to your unique landscape. You can then take it home to finish drying and frame, if you wish. If you have a particular frame you’d like to use, please bring it to the workshop. There will be ideas for landscapes, but bring any source material you might like to use.

What's included in the price?

All felting materials are provided, but please bring a clean towel and a bag to transport your felt home. A light lunch, tempting snacks and hot and cold drinks will be available to fuel you through the workshop. Workshops will be taught with a maximum of 6 and minimum of 2 participants.

FAQs

Although we don't have parking at Nook, we have 2 car parks within a few minute's walk of the studio, with very reasonable hourly or daily charges. There is also plenty of parking available on the surrounding streets, and on Sundays there's the option of free on-road parking outside the walkway to the studios.

Absolutely, please just let me know in the week leading up to the workshop and I'll ensure there will be plenty of suitable refreshments.

Nook is located on the ground floor and has double entrance doors with a step into the gallery space. We now have a ramp to make access with a wheelchair possible. Once inside, everything is on one level. The bathroom is a generous size, although is not equipped with grab handles or an alarm.
