Description

Cable knitting gives your work a really cozy feel. Cable knit items are always on trend and it’s one of our tutor Judith Schur’s favourite stitches. This fascinating form of knitting, even a simple cable stitch, can turn a basic project into something special. In this workshop, you will discover how satisfying it is to create intricate-looking textures of winding and crossing stitches. Once you have mastered the technique in class you will leave with the skills and 100% Shetland yarn to make Judith’s own stylish cushion design with a heart motif. You need to know how to cast on, knit and purl before attempting this workshop, but it is suitable for relatively new knitters who would like to move on from knitting scarves. Tutor Judith Schur has loved knitting since she was a child and previously had her own yarn shop. She has a City and Guilds trained in Hand Knitting and Design and is passionate about sharing the knowledge and skills needed to get everyone knitting. She is also the author of the book ‘Knitting Techniques: Brioche’ (a skill we hope to be featuring as our students advance). Included in this workshop is a kit comprising: - Judith’s heart cushion cable pattern. - 4mm and 5mm needles. - Cable needle. - 2 x 100gm hanks of West Yorkshire Spinners Croft Aran. - Buttons. Level: For those who’ve mastered the basics of knitting including casting on, knit and pearl.
