Butterfly Pegs, Kids workshop - under 11's

X

Description

In this captivating kids' butterfly pegs workshop for beginners, young participants will learn how to craft delightful butterfly pegs to take home. Using a range of techniques such as ready-coloured papers or acrylic paint pens, budding artists will have the choice to create their own unique wings. With templates and expert guidance provided, children will immerse themselves in exploring new colourways and intricately colour-matching the finer details. Don't worry if your little one has no prior experience; this workshop is designed for beginners aged between 6 and 11, with flexibility for slightly younger or older attendees. You can choose to participate alongside your child or drop them off (children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult). Led by the talented Nina Mooncie, a graphic designer from Germany turned illustrator in Brighton, your child will be in expert hands. Nina's passion for nurturing young artists led her to establish after-school art clubs, where she encourages children aged 5 to 11 to explore various materials and unleash their creativity at their own pace. In this engaging workshop, expect a hands-on experience with materials like coloured papers and acrylic paint pens. The session will not only boost your child's artistic skills, but also provide them with a sense of accomplishment when they take home their personalised butterfly pegs. Your tutor - Nina Mooncie Nina trained as a Graphic Designer in her birth country of Germany. After studying illustration at postgraduate level in Brighton, she worked for small Graphic Design companies. When life became busy as a mum of two, she started her Illustration business “Illustration by Nina”. She exhibits her work every year at the Eastbourne Open Houses and at Craft Fairs throughout East Sussex. In 2019, Nina set up her own after-school art club at local schools, working with children aged from 5 to 11. Her goal was to offer a relaxed atmosphere for children to engage in art at their own pace. She introduces different materials and creative ways of working with these materials on a weekly basis.

Hi, we're Kate and Martin McCully, the husband and wife duo behind Maker Studio. With backgrounds in design, craft, and creative direction, we created this space to be a colourful hub for the local community. I’m Kate, an award-winning crochet designer and author of Crochet at Work and the person behind Make Me Roar. You might’ve even seen me win Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas on Channel 4 with my hand-stitched reindeer, Ruben. At Maker Studio, you’ll find a curated mix of modern craft supplies, tools and kits, from yarn by Rico and Stylecraft to gorgeous embroidery threads and kits from brilliant UK makers like Cotton Twist, The Left Hookery, and more. My own crochet kits are all designed here in Eastbourne and are on the shelves too. We don’t just sell supplies we host weekly workshops in everything from beginner crochet and lino printing to creative writing and still life drawing. There are evening and weekend sessions, as well as family-friendly activities and holiday clubs for kids. Our in-studio coffee bar serves incredible coffee from Extract Coffee Roasters and rich vegan hot chocolate from Islands Chocolate. Pop in for a drink, work on a project or try one of our quick Make and Take crafts. Every Thursday, we host a free Meet and Make – a laid-back session for local crafters to get together, share ideas and get making. Come in, have a coffee and make something. We’d love to see you.
