Enjoy a day with creative design and Laser engraving. The sessions are a wonderful opportunity to explore digital craftsmanship through laser engraving. Workshop overview: Outcome: Creative session on laser engraving and the use of Photoshop and AI stock images, and personal photography. This is an introduction to laser engraving without the pressure on technical ability. Activities: Learn to use a 20-watt X-Tools D1 Pro diode laser. Utilise Photoshop for preparing images for engraving. Outcome: Over the day, you will make a set of two coasters using photography and stock artwork and a glass picture frame using vector art. What to bring: Photos: Please bring a USB drive for personalising your projects with any photographs you would like to engrave, ideally two images are best; an iPad or equivalent. Notebook: For jotting down notes or ideas. Entertainment: Since engraving can take time, bring something to pass the time during the processing period. Each slate or glass engraving can take up to 30 minutes or more, depending on the artwork. Enthusiasm: A positive attitude is always welcome! Tools provided: Laptop, laser engraver. Individual sessions – All sessions are one-to-one due to the limited number of laser machines and personalised guidance. This session is a great way to delve into creative arts and learn about laser engraving in a hands-on environment! If you have any specific questions or need more information, feel free to ask.

What's included in the price?

All necessary materials will be provided, slate coasters and a prepared glass frame. A laptop is provided with Photoshop and laser software, you can bring your laptop if preferred. 2 slate coasters, 10x10cm, and a prepared glass frame, various sizes depending on stock.

MA in Art and Social Practise, Ashleigh has a range of various skills, to help you weave and design your own project. Ashleigh runs workshops all year round. The studio's primary focus is now the three T's - tartan, tweed & tuition. The studio also offers a unique service where he can take looms into workshops and visit off-site if required.
