Description
Make your own glass beads in soda lime glass. Suitable for absolute beginners. This two hour one-to-one session offers the opportunity to try this fascinating and beautiful craft. After a demonstration and safety induction, you will begin to make your own glass beads by melting coloured rods of Venetian soda lime glass in an open flame, using a technique called 'lampworking'. I will show you how to form a basic bead, and then add decoration such as dots and stripes. The beads will then be kiln annealed (held at a particular temperature to reduce internal strain in the glass and make them very durable) and posted to you. The classes are held in my workshop located 5 minutes walk from the train station in the heart of Sheffield's Cultural Quarter. Aprons and protective glasses are provided. Wear old clothes you feel comfortable working in, and if you have long hair please tie it back. * New dates are frequently added to the site, so keep checking for up to date availability or message me if you have a date in mind that hasn't been listed.
